It was a cold rainy night in the winter of 2023 when founder of the Koala, Dirk Mulder sat down for dinner at Bangkok Brothers, a great Thai place in Perth with an industry colleague (you know who you are).
Campus Morning Mail, who Dirk wrote for had just announced it was shutting shop. Stephen Matchett and his daily education rag meant a lot to the sector and it gave rise to the idea that something could be done in the International Education space. There are some great services that already exist however something that truly focuses on Australia with some relevance globally could work.
Why the Koala?
The Koala is intelligent, it can be cheeky, it aims to be informative and is uniquely Australian though proudly global.
It unashamedly promotes best practice in International Education. It loves seeing students succeed via a vibrant offering and supporting mix of policy, recruitment and support settings.
Unlike some may suggest, the Koala is not a bear. He may be the bearer of bad news, but prefers positivity. He has his bearings firmly in tact though doesn’t mind going off topic, dislikes bearfaced lies and liers and gets embearassed easily.
I hope you find the Koala koalaty (it’s a bad pun on quality).
