The call for proposals has opened for the Australian International Education Conference (AIEC) 2026, with organisers inviting the sector to help shape the program for the landmark 40th anniversary event.

AIEC 2026 will be held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney from 27 to 30 October 2026 and will centre on the theme Future Thinking, reflecting both the milestone year and a period of continued change for international education.

According to the organising committee, the 2026 program will explore how the sector can lead with purpose and innovation in an increasingly interconnected global environment. Proposals are encouraged that spark discussion, challenge assumptions and offer practical insights into the future direction of international education.

The conference will focus on three broad areas: next-generation international education strategy, emerging trends such as AI-driven pedagogy and evolving models of global mobility, and collaboration across education providers, professionals and students to support a more sustainable and inclusive global learning community.

To support potential presenters, an information webinar will be held on Friday 27 February 2026 at 1.00 pm AEDT, offering expert guidance on developing a strong and competitive proposal. A recording of the session will be made available on the AIEC website for those unable to attend live.

Proposals must be submitted via the online submission portal, with the deadline set for Friday 20 March 2026.

Further details on the call for proposals, submission guidelines and the conference program can be found on the AIEC website.

The AIEC Program Committee said it looks forward to receiving contributions that reflect the diversity, expertise and forward-thinking ideas of Australia’s international education sector as the conference enters its fifth decade.

The AIEC website for more information can be seen here.
