In a significant development for the global learning abroad sector, international study provider CEA CAPA Education Abroad has announced the integration of three leading study abroad organisations—CIS Abroad, CISaustralia and Barcelona Study Abroad Experience (Barcelona SAE)—into its global portfolio.
The move marks a significant step in expanding learning abroad opportunities for students and higher education partners around the world, including Australia. It will provide students with greater access to programs across Europe, Asia and Australia, alongside enhanced support services and academic options.
For Australian universities and students, the addition of CISaustralia represents an exciting opportunity. “In our 13th year of operation I cannot recall a more exciting time or announcement for myself, CISaustralia and our partner Australian universities and their students,” said Brad Dorahy, CISaustralia Founder and Executive Director. “We are thrilled to be part of CEA CAPA and the opportunities it will present for our students, staff, Australian universities and overseas partners.”
“It is business as usual” with the Australian operation remaining largely unaffected,he states. “This is a big step in creating more choices for students and partners in one place, ensuring a platform for continued development and innovation in learning abroad.”
CEA CAPA Chief Executive Officer Beth Stiller said the integration would combine the strengths of some of the most respected providers in international education. “This integration brings together some of the best partnerships, programs, locations, talent, and experience in the field of education abroad. It allows us to reach more students with more variety, quality, and care,” she said.
The expanded organisation will offer a wider range of global destinations, new and enhanced academic offerings, and stronger health, safety and student support systems. Students in in-demand fields such as business, engineering, psychology and health sciences will now have more options and flexibility to include a global experience as part of their studies.
This announcement builds on CEA CAPA’s recent growth, including its 2024 partnership with Atlantis to expand opportunities for pre-health, pre-med and pre-law students. It reflects the increasing importance universities place on providing international learning opportunities to help students prepare for the global workforce.
Students participating in CISaustralia programs will not see any changes to program offerings in 2025 and early 2026, with applications and enrolments continuing through the CISaustralia website.
CEA CAPA Education Abroad now operates in 53 cities across 18 countries, providing study abroad, internship and career development opportunities designed to equip students with academic credit, real-world skills, and cross-cultural understanding.
