Meet IEAA’s newly elected Board members

The results of the election for the International Education Association of Australia’s (IEAA) Board and networks were announced yesterday by IEAA President, Professor Ren Yi, during the closing ceremony of this year’s Australian International Education Conference (AIEC).

Newly elected Board members

Treasurer

Brett Lovegrove, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global Partnerships), The University of Queensland

Board member

  • Tom Gifford, Director, Global Student Recruitment, RMIT University
  • Rishen Shekhar, Pro Vice Chancellor: International, University of South Australia (returning Board member)
  • Marnie Watson, Vice President Global, Griffith University (returning Board member)

Outgoing Board Members

Professor Yi also farewelled outgoing Board members:

  • Bronwyn Bartsch, Pro Vice-Chancellor Global (acting), Australian Catholic University, who held the role of Treasurer for four years
  • Steve Knussen, Executive Director, Kaplan Business School (Board member)
  • Jana Perera, Executive Director, Stakeholder Engagement, Manufacturing Industry Skills Alliance (Board member)

Newly elected conveners and deputy conveners

Newly elected conveners and deputy conveners for IEAA’s networks were also announced (noting that some positions have already been announced as candidates were elected unopposed).

Marketing and Recruitment Network

Deputy Convener: Sue Ng, Assistant Director, Student Recruitment (International), RMIT University

Deputy Convener: Ashley Tanks, Director of Partnerships, Australia & New Zealand, Grok Global Services, Inc.

Admissions and Compliance Network

Deputy Convener: Clare Wilson, Director, Operations (Recruitment and International Operations), La Trobe University

Scholarships and Fellowships Network

Deputy Convener: Johan Arnberg, Senior Manager, Global Sponsorship and Mobility, The University of Queensland

Student Life Network

Convener: Alex Reeman-Clark, General Manager, Student Experience, Kaplan Business School

Transnational Education Network

Deputy Convener: Emma Steinke, Associate Director, International Partnerships, RMIT University

Tracy Harris is a current IEAA Board member.

Tracy Harris

Tracy Harris is currently interim Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Guild of Education, bringing more than three decades of leadership experience across the international education sector, spanning universities, pathway providers, the federal government and the not-for-profit sector. She is also Principal of Tracy Harris Solutions, a consultancy through which she undertakes independent work and sector commentary. While Tracy Harris Solutions remains active, particularly for her sector commentary, her consultancy work is currently operating at reduced capacity during her tenure as interim CEO. Previously, Tracy led Swinburne College as General Manager and Dean and was Executive Director, Global Development and Performance at RMIT University. She has also held senior roles in the public sector, including with the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), involving overseas representation, and within the former Australian Education International (AEI). Tracy also serves on a number of boards across the education sector, including the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA).
