The Indonesia-Australia relationship is in the spotlight.
Indonesia holds the 2023 ASEAN Secretariat Chairmanship, the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) enables connectivity and Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 is now in the market.
As our closest neighbour, there is clear interest and growth across education and exchange spaces, from the Bridge Schools Partnership program at Asia Education Foundation, the New Colombo Plan, ACICIS Study Indonesia and a variety of youth-led programs, including the ASEAN Australia Strategic Youth Partnership and the Australia Indonesia Youth Association.
The 2023 Australia-Indonesia Institute’s (AII) Indonesian Studies Awards recognise the achievements and contributions of Indonesian language teachers, researchers, and leaders in Indonesian cultural outreach in Australia.
Delivering exemplary work that underpins the capability and capacity of Australia’s engagement, it’s time to celebrate these awesome folks who build scale and deliver profile.
There are three award categories:
- AII Language Teaching Award recognises excellence in Indonesian language teaching
- AII Studies and Cultural Leadership Award recognises excellence in study or research across any discipline or in cultural education and outreach, which increases the understanding of Indonesia among Australians
- AII Distinguished Service Award recognises dedicated service in Indonesian Studies or teaching and/or cultural education and outreach for more than 25 years, resulting in a substantial increase in Australians’ understanding of Indonesia.
The 2023 Award recipients will be announced at the annual National Australian Indonesian Language Awards (NAILA) ceremony in December.
