LANGUAGECERT announces deed signing, paving the way for its Academic English language test to be accepted for Australian visa purposes

LANGUAGECERT has announced it has signed a contract with the Australian Department of Home Affairs (DHA), suggesting that its LANGUAGECERT Academic English language test will be recognised for all visa categories requiring proof of English proficiency immediately, following ministerial approval.

This important milestone marks a new chapter for LANGUAGECERT and offers international students, skilled professionals, and migrants more flexibility when applying to live, work, or study in Australia.

In an exclusive sit-down with the Koala Patrick Pheasant, Head of Educational Partnerships for Australia and New Zealand, said, “We are thrilled to announce that LANGUAGECERT has officially signed a contract with the Department of Home Affairs in Australia.”

“This milestone strengthens our commitment to providing trusted English language testing solutions for individuals pursuing opportunities in Australia,” he said.

The recognition places LANGUAGECERT Academic alongside a select group of English proficiency tests accepted not only now by the Australian Government but also the UK Home Office, the Department of Justice in Ireland, the New Zealand Qualifications Authority and the Netherlands National Committee.

According to Fraser Cargill, Partnerships and Recognitions Director at LANGUAGECERT, the approval reinforces the test’s global credibility and its role in high-stakes migration, academic, and professional pathways.

“This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting government departments with secure solutions and individuals worldwide in achieving their academic, professional or personal goals through accessible and trusted language assessment,” Cargill said. “The extensive review process was one of the most comprehensive conducted by a government body.”

LANGUAGECERT Academic has been designed to provide a smooth, secure, and candidate-first experience, with advanced security features, rapid results, and accessible testing processes. It aims to reduce stress for test takers while meeting the high standards required by Australian immigration authorities.

While it is anticipated that the test will be fully accepted for visa purposes from August 2025, it remains subject to relevant legislative approval processes in the lead-up. However, the signing of the contract assures students, education providers, and agents that LANGUAGECERT Academic will soon be a valid and reliable choice for applicants needing to prove their English proficiency.

To celebrate its official entry into the Australian and New Zealand visa and admissions landscape, LANGUAGECERT is hosting a Launch Seminar Series in key cities this August and September. These in-person events are designed for education professionals, admissions teams, and stakeholders to learn more about the test, explore its features, and connect with peers across the sector.

Event dates include:

  • Melbourne: 20 August 2025, 4.30–6.00pm
  • Sydney: 21 August 2025, 4.30–6.00pm
  • Christchurch: 18 September 2025, 5.00–6.00pm
  • Auckland: 19 September 2025, 5.00–6.00pm

Refreshments will be provided at all events.

With this signing, LANGUAGECERT aims to broaden access to secure, high-quality English testing for individuals pursuing academic, professional, or personal goals in Australia. More information about the LANGUAGECERT Academic test and its recognition for visa applications is available at www.languagecert.org. You can register for the seminar series here.
