Ministers Confirmed as Keynote Speakers at Student Equity Symposium

Exciting news from the Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success (ACSES): senior government ministers, along with sector leaders and student representatives, will deliver keynote addresses at the upcoming Student Equity in an Era of Change 2025 symposium. The event, hosted at the Aerial Function Centre at UTS and streamed online, promises to drive forward Australia’s higher education equity agenda.

Attendees will hear from major figures including:

  • The Hon Jason Clare MP (Education Minister)
  • Senator the Hon Jonathon Duniam (Shadow Education Minister)
  • The Hon Fiona Nash (Regional Education Commissioner)
  • Professor Barney Glover AO (Jobs and Skills Commissioner)
  • Professor Verity Firth AM (UNSW)
  • Distinguished Professor George Williams AO (Western Sydney University)
  • Dr Tim Renick (Georgia State University, USA)
  • And inspiring student leaders from across Australia.

The symposium will also feature:

  • The official launch of Equity Insights 2025, ACSES’s flagship annual publication on fairer education outcomes.
  • Presentation of the ACSES Awards for Innovation and Excellence in Impact on Higher Education Policy and Practice 2025 to individuals and teams making transformative contributions to student equity.

The symposium will be held on 9–10 September 2025.
