Despite our negative expectations for an imminent third perfect storm, the value of education as an export for Australia grew 5% in 2024/25.

Education and Tourism as Exports for Australia 1998/99 to 2024/25 ($ billions)

The Australian Bureau of Statistics on 17 December 2025 released International Trade: Supplementary Information, Financial Year, 2024–25.

The value of Education as an export for Australia grew 5% to $53.571 billion in 2024/25, from $51.032 billion in 2023/24.

Detailed analysis by state and territory, and detailed analysis of how education ranks among Australia’s top exports, will be available in the New Year, in the Year of the Horse, bringing vitality, success, and independence.
