Recently released YTD March numbers are important in the yearly cycle as they incorporate Higher Ed’s 1st Semester intake – in effect, it provides a really good snapshot for year-on-year performance at a consistently defined point.
Overall – it’s good news
Commencing students continue to be up in major sub-sectors, not just against last year but against 2019. Against 2019, Higher Ed is up 3.9 per cent. VET is up 16.9 per cent, ELICOS (Student Visa’s) is up 6.5 per cent. Those still Schools down 28.8 per cent and Non-award down 34.1 per cent.
On the enrolments side of the ledger, there is still some time to run before they catch up to 2019 levels. Again, against 2019 – Higher Ed is down 9.4 per cent, VET is up 18.9 per cent, Schools is down 45.8, ELICOS is up 2.3 per cent, and Non-award is down 41.2 per cent.
States – WA, SA and NT shine
Commencing Students:
NSW overall is up 1.1 per cent, up 8 per cent in Higher Ed, Up 8.7 per cent in VET, down 44.3 in Schools, up o.3 per cent in ELICOS and down 36.7 per cent in Non-award.
VIC overall is down 7.2 per cent, down 13.5 per cent in Higher Ed, up 14.1 per cent in VET, down 16.8 per cent in Schools, down 0.4 per cent in ELICOS and down 36.4 per cent in Non-award.
QLD is up 4 per cent overall, Up 4.8 per cent in Higher Ed, up 11.9 per cent in VET, down 23.3 per cent in Schools, up 21.3 per cent in ELICOS, and down 40 per cent in Non-award.
SA is up 25.2 per cent overall, up 21.6 per cent in High Ed, up 113.8 per cent in VET, down 25.1 per cent in Schools, up 26.1 per cent in ELICOS and down 41.7 per cent in Non-award.
WA is up 47.1 per cent overall. Up 63.5 per cent in Higher Ed, up 46.5 per cent in VET, down 31.7 per cent in Schools, up 29.5 per cent in ELICOS and up 9.6 per cent in Non-award
TAS is down 29.8 per cent overall. Down 28.2 per cent in Higher Ed, down 22.7 per cent in VET, down 35.8 per cent in Schools, down 66.3 per cent in ELICOS, down 29.4 per cent in Non-award.
NT is up 106.5 per cent overall, up 140.1 per cent in Higher Ed, Up 54.6 per cent in VET, up 73.3 per cent in Schools, up 115 per cent in ELICOS and up 218.8 per cent in Non-award
