The Australia-Korea Foundation 2023-2024 Grant Round is open!
Australia and South Korea have a strong bilateral relationship with shared strategic and economic interests. In 2021, the relationship was elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) focusing on three pillars of cooperation: strategic and security; economic, innovation and technology; and people-to-people exchange.
In 2021-22, South Korea was Australia’s third-largest export destination and sixth-largest source of imports. The 2014 Korea-Australia Free Trade Agreement (KAFTA) provides preferential market access for Australian merchandise and services exports, and the CSP’s people-to-people pillar aims to enhance cooperation across education.
The grant program elevates the opportunity to support objectives of the Australian-Korea Foundation (AKF), to
- increase public awareness of Australia in Korea and of Korea in Australia, and the importance of the bilateral relationship.
- develop partnerships in areas of shared interest in the bilateral, regional and global context.
- increase Australians’ capacity to effectively engage with Korea.

With Memoranda of Understanding in 2008 and 2021 aiming to deepen existing socio-cultural cooperation, the grants are an excellent resource to deepen educational exchange that strengthens learning, development and research outcomes.
