The Council on Australia Latin America Relations (COALAR) has launched its Strategic Plan for 2024-2027, with education and research featuring as one of its five priority themes.
When speaking about the new Strategic Plan, Professor Emeritus Betty Leask, Chair of COALAR said that it “is deliberately ambitious but also achievable. The depth of our achievements will be largely dependent on collaboration and partnership to achieve shared goals”.
Through the Strategic Plan, COALAR will strengthen and expand people-to-people, academic, institutional and education networks between Australia and Latin America to:
- facilitate dialogue and information sharing on education policies and practices
- foster academic collaboration and joint research
- increase bilateral education initiatives
- leverage alumni networks
- promote Australia’s international education sector.
The other priority themes are:
- Culture and entrepreneurship
- Environment and energy transition
- First nations
- Mining, METS and resources
“The Council is very focused on partnering to achieve short and long term sustainable outcomes, building on our many existing connections and building new alliances. We are conscious that our achievements will to a large extent be determined by the strength and diversity of partnerships between individuals and organisations working towards their shared goals that are also aligned with our strategic plan,” said Professor Leask.
