#EAIE2024 has undoubtedly demonstrated the ongoing spirit of cooperation between countries and institutions seeking to internationalise education at home and create study abroad opportunities around the world.
With many countries around the world having recently had or soon to have elections it seems that political posturing or policy changes are presenting major challenges and uncertainty for education providers in many parts of the world. In particular, the conflation of the international student movement with net migration goals in many locations has certainly created a climate of frustration for many.
Against that backdrop, EAIE has again provided the ideal forum to reinforce the fundamental truths, benefits, and opportunities that stem from students studying in other countries.
As usual, EAIE has provided the opportunity to connect with multiple and varied education partners from around the world, all in one location.
The vast MEETT conference venue here in Toulouse was well able to handle the large number of participants but is quite a distance from the downtown centre of Toulouse.
Despite the commute, for many, the choice to stay in the historic heart of the pink city was obvious and made for a delightful place to spend time socialising with colleagues.
The opening night function was a unique experience for sure. Held in the Victor Hugo Marché a covered market in the heart of Toulouse attendees could sample a broad array of local food delights from market stall holders in a vibrant party like atmosphere.
Most definitely a highlight of #EAIE2024
Like with any major conference, the social calendar is an important part of building connections, trust, and understanding with colleagues.
As the conference winds up today, participants will no doubt return home recharged with even more passion and positivity for their work in International Education…. and, of course, fond memories of the south of France.
