The National Exchange Fair Circuit returns in 2024

The Exchange Fair Circuit is a collaborative initiative between Australian universities to encourage more students to study overseas on exchange.

It began in 2004 and aims to leverage off already established institution-based exchange fairs. Collaborating on a national level – and coordinating the timing of individual fairs – greatly enhances the value proposition for international partner institutions travelling to Australia. International partners attend different sections of the circuit each year, or participate in the whole circuit on alternate years.

The Exchange Fair Circuit is now a firmly established part of the annual student mobility calendar in Australia.

Aims

The Exchange Fair Circuit aims to:

• Promote outbound educational programs to Australian students and increase the level of student participation
• Encourage as many international partners to come to Australia and promote their institutions as exchange destinations
• Encourage other interested stakeholders to promote themselves, such as the Australian government promoting the OS-HELP loans scheme
• Increase the visibility and exposure of outbound mobility programs across Australia.

Schedule

In 2024, the Exchange Fair Circuit takes place in March.

We extend a warm welcome and invitation to our university partners around the globe to join us in Australia.

How does it work?

Each participating university nominates a day, or several days, over which they will hold their fair. Universities in the same states are encouraged to hold their fairs in the same period, usually over the same week, to enable partners to travel easily between events.

Each university invites their international partners to attend. International partners then choose their own route around Australia, depending on their individual partner relationships.

Institutions may organise their event differently, but each Exchange Fair generally involves a day where staff and students from visiting partner institutions speak to local students interested in undertaking exchange at an overseas university.

Representatives from commercial organisations, foreign government diplomatic missions, Australian government representatives are also invited to participate and promote their higher education initiatives – such as the OS-HELP loan scheme for exchange students.
