The International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) has released its new 2025-2027 Strategic Plan and reducing student visa charges and advocating for more equitable NOSC methodology for 2026/27 are among some of the immediate priorities called out in the plan.
“Our previous three-year Strategic Plan was informed by and written in the context of our sector’s Covid pandemic recovery,” said IEAA’s Chief Executive Officer, Phil Honeywood.
“In contrast, this new Plan is very much forward looking, acknowledging the need for sustainable growth while emphasising our key focus on research, professional development/fellowship and the student voice.”
Three Strategic Goals have been identified in the plan, with a range of actions aimed at bringing each goal to life:
- IEAA will champion and advance Australian international education
- IEAA will build capacity and resilience through professional development
- IEAA will be the voice of Australia’s international education community locally and globally
“Based on membership feedback, [the new Strategic Plan] sets realistic goals including a series of immediate priorities to act as signposts for our Board, secretariat team and our wider membership base”, said Honeywood.
Other immediate priorities include coordinating an industry-led student voice initiative and refreshing professional development learning modules, as well as a research project on transnational education.
