LanguageCert has officially marked its arrival in Australia and New Zealand with a series of sector launch events, following the recent recognition of its English language test, LanguageCert Academic, by both the Australian Department of Home Affairs (DHA) and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).
In Melbourne yesterday, the international education community turned out in force to celebrate the milestone and learn more about the new testing option. Phil Honeywood, CEO of the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) opened the event with Leda Lampropoulou, Fraser Cargill and Patrick Pheasant facilitating guests through the extensive research and concordance studies that underpin the government acceptance, while also allowing for the opportunity to network with peers across the sector.
The Sydney event takes place tonight.
Looking ahead, LanguageCert will take centre stage at the English Australia conference in Brisbane next week, where Leda Lampropoulou, Head of Research at LanguageCert HQ, will join a panel discussion on test comparability. Titled “Concordance in Context,” the session will explore how providers can use concordance research to strengthen student recruitment, curriculum design and outcomes. The panel will be chaired by Dr Patrick Pheasant and include Associate Professor Pamela Humphreys (Macquarie University College) and Associate Professor Simon Winetroube (Curtin University College).
The recognition of LanguageCert Academic by DHA means the test is now accepted for all Australian visa categories requiring proof of English proficiency. Combined with acceptance in New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands, the achievement highlights the test’s growing global credibility.
LanguageCert is now preparing to take the celebrations to New Zealand, with two exclusive evening receptions confirmed:
- Christchurch – Wednesday 18 September, 5:00–6:00pm
- Auckland – Thursday 19 September, 5:00–6:00pm
