New South Wales has reinforced its position as a global education and technology leader, with Sydney playing host to the EDUtech 2025 Conference and the NSW EdTech Summit this week.
The twin events brought together thousands of educators, innovators, and industry stakeholders to explore the future of teaching and learning. Supported by Study NSW and Business Events NSW, the summit highlighted how collaboration between government and industry is accelerating education innovation.
EDUtech 2025, Australia’s largest education technology conference and exhibition, was the centrepiece of the week. The NSW Government’s presence featured a major booth showcasing the combined efforts of Study NSW, Investment NSW, the Department of Education, and TAFE NSW. Their shared message: NSW is serious about driving skills development, fostering innovation, and expanding the state’s global education footprint.
The numbers support that message. According to EduGrowth, almost 40% of Australia’s EdTech companies are based in NSW, employing more than 8,000 people and generating $1.6 billion in revenue last year. Programs like AmplifyED, Export Masterclasses, and the Women EdTech Leaders Syndicate are further positioning NSW-based companies for commercial success and international growth.
International education remains at the heart of NSW’s identity. More than 328,000 international students from over 180 countries study in the state, and with new EdTech solutions enabling flexible, high-quality learning, their experience is improving both onshore and abroad. International students are also playing an important role in the state’s innovation economy—nearly one in four Australian startups employed someone on a visa in the past year, with many hires being international students.
The energy from EDUtech 2025 aligns with broader state goals under the NSW Innovation Blueprint, Industry Policy, and Trade and Investment Strategy—all of which position digital skills, education, and global partnerships as central to future growth.
With Sydney now confirmed as the host city for EDUtech in 2026 and 2027, the momentum continues. NSW is not only shaping the future of education at home, but setting the standard for EdTech leadership globally.
