“Nothing Toulouse” in the pink city as some 6500 conferencegoers convene for the European Association of International Education’s annual conference.  #EAIE2024

For this Koala correspondent, EAIE delivers one of the big 4 conferences in the International Education calendar. Drawing participants from around the world, eager to network and connect, the European conference has always had a particular focus on institution-to-institution partnerships: a particular favourite for those working in Student Exchange (STEX).

It is with much interest and anticipation that this year’s Toulouse iteration of EAIE looks set to offer an increasingly broader business development opportunity and multilayered global engagement window for those venturing to the south of France.

The Climate Action Network for International Educators (CANIE), on the back of their recognition at the PIEoneers Awards last Friday will be pleased to see that many conference attendees have engaged with the green travel initiative whilst making their way to Toulouse: Europe being well serviced with sustainable travel options.

Hot topics of discussion in Toulouse look set to include:

  • Student recruitment in the face of caps imposed by governments amidst the unhelpful conflation of net migration targets and international student mobility
  • Avoiding confusing mixed messaging to markets around the world in the face of significant uncertainty
  • Finding the secret sauce that delivers genuine two-way or mutual benefit to institutional partners through multilayered activities
  • Ensuring sustainability in global engagement strategies
  • Successfully blending online and face-to-face activity for maximum efficiency and reach

The Koala’s onsite correspondent will be back with another EAIE update later in the week.
