The Winston Churchill Trust, aiming to ‘learn globally, inspire locally’, plays a critical role in constructing our nation’s identity and development.
Churchill Fellowships offer Australian citizens and permanent residents a life-changing opportunity to travel overseas for four to eight weeks to learn more about a topic or issue that they are passionate about.
Since 1965, over 4,700 Aussies have journeys overseas on this life changing experience and contributed their knowledge for the betterment and enlightenment of the Australian community.
The Fellowship and its capacity to impact Australia’s development is clearly aligned to the work of our international education sector. This perfect synergy of professional and personal development and the building of an inclusive and welcoming community delivers an opportunity to influence the way we work with our international students.
An academic qualification is not required to apply. A Churchill Fellowship can be completed on any topic, provided there is a benefit to the Australian community through the sharing of the knowledge or skills gained through the project.

Interesting note: On the announcement of Sir Winston Churchill’s passing on 24 January 1965, a nationwide appeal for funds was launched by Prime Minister Menzies. Commonwealth and State Governments along with Australian companies and individuals donated generously. The RSL performed a nationwide doorknock on Sun 28 of February, collecting £911,000 within an overall total of £2,206,000 raised; with the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust founded to administer the funds.
