English Australia has announced monthly advocacy meetings for the foreseeable future to hear from members on various issues.
In an email sent out to members and supporters of English Australia earlier today, its CEO Ian Aird said, “In these challenging times of significant policy, legislative and regulatory change, a strong, connected community and sharing information and insights are more important than ever. To help facilitate this, English Australia will be holding a monthly online catch-up session at the end of every calendar month starting this Thursday 25th of July.”
This week, the agenda will be:
- College obligations when cancelling CoEs for studying students
- College risk ratings and cancelled CoEs for applying students
- DHA reports of latest trends in fraudulent applications
- Update on the progress of the ESOS Amendment Bill 2024.
Questions and discussion will follow the formal agenda, with Aird stressing that the forums will be conducted as “meetings” and not as webinars.
It is a smart move by Aird and English Australia. We have seen the “divide and conquer” approach run through the higher education sector on the caps issue. Maintaining open communication with members not only provides an opportunity for Aird to hear from members but also to reflect back to the base the work that is being done in the advocacy space.
The first will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25th (AEST), and is for member colleges exclusively.
