Johnson Partners and Asialink co-convene the Asian-Australian Leadership Awards, previously known as the ‘40 under 40 Most Influential Asian-Australian Awards’.

Since 2019, these have recognised and celebrated outstanding leadership and contributions by Asian-Australians to the Australian community. Nominations for the 2024 Asian Australian Leadership Awards are now open here.

This fifth year of the Awards will reshape the debate and confront Australia’s ‘bamboo ceiling’, the underrepresentation of Asian-Australians in leadership positions.

With communities, companies and governments rethinking leadership for the challenges that face society, this program propels the leadership capabilities that exist within the Asian-Australian community; promoting the immense contribution they make to Australia.

The work driven by Asialink has never been more important and pivotal to Australian relationships with Asia. Asialink, established in 1989, is as a joint initiative of the Australian Government’s Commission for the Future and The Myer Foundation, one of Australia’s oldest and at the time largest philanthropic foundations. Continually evolving, Asialink guides Australia’s prosperity. Uplifting the capability of a population, they assist build the knowledge and skills that enable effective engagement with Asian peoples and cultures.

This is an opportunity to celebrate the work of a colleagues contribution to and influence within the international education sector. The Awards will recognise the achievements and leadership of young Asian-Australians across 11 categories:

  • Rising Star (Under 25s)
  • Lifetime Achievement (uncapped age)
  • Arts & Culture
  • Sports
  • Corporate
  • Education, Science & Medicine
  • Public Sector & Government
  • Innovation & Entrepreneurship
  • Legal & Professional Services
  • Community & Advocacy / Not for Profit
  • Media

In the current climate let’s champion those who are positively influencing our national and global narrative, particularly those on the fringe or who provide services or products that open up complementary value for the international education sector.

Nominees must identify as Asian-Australian and be under the age of 40 to be considered for the Awards, except for the Lifetime Achievement category that has an uncapped age limit.

To be eligible:

  • Nominees must be Australian citizens or permanent residents, residing in Australia or abroad, and be aged 40 or under in the year of nomination.
  • For the Under 25 Rising Star, nominees must be aged 25 or under in the year of nomination.

So, nominate a colleague or shine the spotlight on your own work. Celebrating and supporting this program will socialise positive contributions and the economic and social value of the sector. It’s an important stage to amplify messaging and highlight the national contribution made by international education.
