TEQSA announced today its decision to register Navitas-owned Australian College of Applied Professions (ACAP) as a University College.
ACAP offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of applied psychology, management, and law and justice.
The University College category was established in July 2021 as part of reforms made to the categorisation of Australian higher education providers. Following TEQSA’s latest decision, there are now eight providers registered in this category.
“The University College category recognises mature providers with strong academic processes and student outcomes, and who engage with industry, the professions and the community,” said TEQSA Acting Chief Commissioner, Adrienne Nieuwenhuis.
In response to TEQSA’s decision, ACAP CEO, Joseph Anthonysz, said “becoming a University College will not change our dedication to small class sizes and industry expert lecturers; it instead serves to reinforce our commitment to our holistic approach, which has led to improvements in student performance, satisfaction and outcomes.”
“As a University College we will continue to play an important and ongoing role in transforming how our applied professions are taught, practised and regulated in Australia”, Anthonysz said.
ACAP began as the Australian College of Applied Psychology in 1983, becoming a Higher Education Provider (HEP) in 2003, and was acquired by Navitas in 2006.
It was rebranded to the Australian College of Applied Professions in 2021, with TEQSA changing its provider category to Institute of Higher Education in the same year.
