Scape, Australia’s largest student accommodation provider, has welcomed the Federal Government’s 2026 National Planning Level increase to 295,000 international student places. In response, the company has announced a bold initiative in collaboration with universities to offer scholarship-based accommodation to students currently on waitlists.
This targeted move will see hundreds of students—both domestic and international—placed in secure, community-focused housing environments, giving them the confidence and stability to begin their studies. With more than 19,000 residents already housed across 39 buildings, and a pipeline of 5,000 new apartments on the way, Scape is positioning itself as a major driver of Australia’s international education recovery.
“This is the kind of forward planning Australia needs,” said Craig Carracher, Founder and Joint CEO of The Living Company, which owns Scape. “Linking housing delivery with education policy gives long-term certainty to students, universities, and the broader investment community.”
Scape is now calling for expressions of interest from universities looking to boost housing capacity under the government’s new framework. The move highlights the increasingly vital connection between accommodation infrastructure and sustainable growth in international education.
