Education agents, providers and policymakers will meet in Melbourne next week to examine the policy settings, recruitment challenges and industry relationships shaping the future of Australian international education.
The future direction of Australian international education will be the focus of AIECA’s Symposium on Leading Education Recruitment, SYMPLEDX, on Tuesday 20 October.
Held at Monash College in Melbourne, the symposium comes as the sector continues to navigate changing visa settings, restrictions on onshore student transfers, scrutiny of agent commissions and rising costs for international students.
For education agents, these changes have direct implications for student advice, recruitment strategies, relationships with providers and the sustainability of their businesses. The symposium will bring together agents, government representatives, education providers and sector leaders to discuss the challenges and consider what comes next.
Under the theme The Future of Australian International Education: Policy. Recruitment. Migration. TNE. Visas. What Comes Next?, the program will examine the policy decisions and industry developments influencing the sector.
Speakers include Assistant Minister for International Education Julian Hill MP, Professor Andrew Norton, migration policy commentator Dr Abul Rizvi, International Education Association of Australia CEO Phil Honeywood and English Australia CEO Ian Aird.
Discussions will extend beyond policy and migration to consider how the industry operates and how it can better support students. Sessions will examine transnational education, international recruitment in schools, and opportunities for universities and education consultants to work more effectively together to improve the student journey.
The emphasis is on candid discussion and practical insights, with an opportunity for participants to contribute to conversations about the sector’s future.
As policy settings continue to evolve, the relationship between government, education providers and recruitment agents remains an important part of the international education landscape. The symposium provides a forum for those groups to consider the implications of change and the direction ahead.
SYMPLEDX will run from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday 20 October at Monash College City Campus, 750 Collins Street, Docklands, Melbourne, followed by networking drinks.
