English Australia is inviting the ELICOS sector to take part in two of its most anticipated annual initiatives, with both the 2026 English Australia Conference call for abstracts and the English Australia Awards nominations now officially open.
Taking place in Melbourne from 16–18 September, the 2026 English Australia Conference will centre on the theme “Stories of Transformation.” This year’s program will celebrate the life-changing impact of ELICOS and highlight the vital role the sector plays within Australia’s broader international education landscape. The conference will provide a platform to explore the powerful personal and collective journeys that shape the ELICOS community—across students, teachers, leaders, and institutions.
Educators, leaders, and other sector professionals are encouraged to contribute to the conversation by submitting an abstract. The call for abstracts is open until 12 May, offering an opportunity to share insights, innovations, and experiences that demonstrate transformation in action. Further details on submission guidelines and themes are available here.
Alongside the conference, nominations are now open for the 2026 English Australia Awards, closing on 20 May. These prestigious awards recognise the outstanding individuals and programs driving excellence across the ELICOS sector. With categories spanning Academic Leadership, Innovation, Middle Management, Action Research, and ELICOS Sector Contribution, the awards shine a spotlight on those making a meaningful difference. More information on how to nominate and awards criteria can be found here.
Together, the conference and awards offer a valuable opportunity to highlight the achievements, initiatives, and journeys shaping the ELICOS sector in Australia today.
